What A Treasure Advocacy Activity

Join us in this collaborative community engagement activity.
Dear Center Director,
The Southwest Community Engagement Collaborative is asking for your center’s participation in an important advocacy activity. In order to provide your legislator with a strong visual of the importance of early childhood issues, and in accordance with this year’s book choice for PA One Book, Every Young Child 2010 entitled “What a Treasure!”, we would like to create a treasure chest with jewels designed by children in our area.

Budget Impasse Brings Childcare Community to a Forum Night at AIU

Michelle Figlar, PAEYC executive director, addresses a packed meeting room at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit August 20, 2009 during a community forum to discuss the state budget impasse.

Figlar, who also is the community engagement coordinator for United 4 Children and a panel of who’s who among early childhood education, spoke before a packed meeting room last night at the Allegheny Intermediate United, located in the Homestead Waterfront. “We didn’t start this (fair budget advocacy) work last week. We started this in February. This is what our careers are based on.”
